A Georgian silver toddy ladle of oval form with a lopped perimeter inset with a Portuguese gold 1749 1/2 escudo of King John V.
Has a twisted handle whilst the bowl was made from recycled English silver coins of the period, the edge inscription of which can still be seen on the edge of the bowl. No hallmarks can be seen on the ladle, which are either worn away or was never hallmarked in the first place.
Condition: Some damage to the handle, one small dent to the bowl, a possible reinforcement to the shaft of bowl, and some wear. Otherwise in adequate condition for its age and use.
